More bachelor pad color

Joy Overstreet, color consultant, bachelor padA couple of months ago I posted some pictures from the early stages of using colorful paint to transform the kitchen in a Los Angeles bachelor pad. Here are the before and after shots of the kitchen area – including the poster that inspired some of the color choices we made. The dark wood floors provide a wonderful anchor for the space. (The landlord insisted he keep the horrid silver ceiling trim…)

Out of the picture or hard to discern here are the eggplant-colored bowls from Ikea, potted plants with yellow and red flowers, a black and turquoise vase, and the cabernet wall in the living room which pull it all together.

In this “before,” you can see the colorful poster (getting ordered) on the computer screen (lower right floor…). The wall on the left is now burgundy and the one framing the dining area is now a tan/taupe.

It really is amazing what you can do on a minimal budget with a few cans of wisely chosen paint.
